I've never really eaten breakfast without the season
Another coffee ordered through
Another bacon passes by me
You never took the smile away from anybody's face
And that's an appetizing way to look
For someone who is just a Yelper
At Matt's Big Breakfast foods stay with you
Like a hungry voice fires the griddlecakes
Stay hungry!
Matt's Big Breakfast is now located in Tempe, but with not 1, not 2, but 3 locations popping; this local breakfast joint is the place to be! I'm sure they're working on expanding to another!
I came with a group of runners after a quick run! The place was banging with patrons and we had to wait another hour just to get seated. Needless to say, I couldn't wait cause as the food passed us by and the smell of coffee; man I tell ya I was hungry!!
When we finally sat, I ordered some coffee and beer of course to carb load! I proceeded with The Hog & Chick breakfast; 2 eggs, 3 slices of bacon, hash browns, and wheat toast. I also got the griddlecakes on the side just to try it. Overall, a solid "Big" breakfast cause portions are not lacking here; I can hear Julia Child now, more butter! The hash browns were crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. The bacon was meaty and salty to the bite. The eggs I liked over-easy and indeed it was. I got some wheat toast which was thick like Texas toast, but I ate it as I progressed to my griddlecakes; which was sweet and toasty along with my warm maple syrup! My friend ordered the Skinny; 4 eggs whites scrambled with gruyere cheese, spinach, and chicken apple sausage, served with a side salad. She enjoyed her breakfast except the salad became soggy with dressing.
In the end, Matt's Big Breakfast did deliver some solid breakfast, but nothing spectacular. Service was decent and the overall atmosphere was popping. I rather enjoyed my breakfast and it was done the right way. I appreciate them using local and organic products in Phoenix so that's always a plus in my books! - Enjoy!
