  • State Street reminds me so much of Telegraph Avenue at UC Berkeley. State Street offers some great restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and candy shops. In the warm weather there is no doubt someone out playing an instrument and providing the backdrop to the experience. At the top of State you've got the capital in all it's glory, and the square - boasting it's own plethora of shops, restaurants, cafes, and experiences. Go to the end of State and you are at Memorial Library and the library mall which now boasts quite a plethora of food carts on most days (Banzo being one of the carts I keep hearing about). State Street is fun, it's relaxing, it has culture (the Civic Center, various food offerings), it has caffeine, it offers outdoor seating and people watching, and it is the epicenter of the "liberal bubble" this city boasts and where most people from other parts of the state flock to in order to see it for themselves. Yes, we are a crazy, liberal bunch in these parts. Come check us out. Don't be surprised by the culture shock if you come here on a humid Saturday night and walk down State at 10pm.
