  • Cooper's is a solid choice for downtown, Capitol area dining. You can't get your name on the list until all of your party is there, at least that's how it was for us tonight. It was pretty busy on Wednesday around 6:45 pm. The server was friendly and attentive, but he didn't refill waters for us until the very end of our meal. The feel and the energy in the place is fun and lively. The salmon was perfect, and you can get the Brussel sprouts sautéed in veggie oil rather than bacon fat if that's more of what you prefer. The prices aren't cheap, and the dishes aren't "light," but taste and quality are up there, and when you can sit outside in the summer, it's a really sweet dining spot. I've enjoyed the cheese curds in the past, but tonight they were lukewarm, and that was unfortunate because we brought someone from out of town who was trying them for one of her first times. Overall, if I'm eating out downtown, I'm never against eating at Cooper's. I realize I pointed out some low points in Cooper's, but I stand by my 4-star rating on this place for all of its other upsides.
