  • We came here for my wife's business at the annual MBA conference. We had traveled separately, and I arrived a few hours before she did. The reservation was in her name (made by her company), and so they would not let me check in on that reservation, which I understand completely. Instead, they instantly made a reservation under my name which my wife could merge when she arrived, so the delay in being able to access the room was literally three minutes. I appreciate staff that knows what they are doing. As I'd had both our luggage when checking in, I'd valet-parked the car while checking in. I wasn't aware there was a $22/day charge, but it's on the ticket, so the next day after retrieving the car and setting off to visit family, I self-parked at Mandalay Bay for the remainder of the stay, and the final bill correctly reflected that. Parking myself also helped get the lay of the land inside Mandalay Bay, since all casinos are designed to be confusing, AFAIC. The room itself was as quiet as any I've ever stayed in: No street noise, only the occasional voices passing the door, no noise from other rooms. Nice furnishings, definitely a level above standard hotel rooms. Very comfortable bed, with down pillows. The usual, ubiquitous mini-bar, which can be very occasionally useful, but other than one bottle of water (we won't drink Vegas tap water) we used to make coffee in the Keurig, we left it untouched as usual. We had a north and northwest view, which was - except for the Delano sitting near the middle of it - very good. Housekeeping came by several times a day, but we always put out the "do not disturb" sign unless we really need something, and as a result we got numerous love notes and phone messages reminding us they'd checked on us and would come if we called. The one day we let them in so we could get new towels, they did rearrange everything on the bathroom sink counter. Unexpected, but not unacceptable. The staff was invariably polite and helpful. My wife complained that the shower stall didn't drain properly, as the floor isn't sloped the right way (I didn't notice), and that there was no toehold or place to sit when she was shaving her legs. What I cared about was that the shower stream was quite strong (OK, that's wasteful...but the toilet seems to be low-flow) without stinging and that the temperature adjustment was the best I've ever seen in a hotel (among other places) by not being overly sensitive like so many are, the hot water was instantly hot, and the set temperature and volume never varied in the slightest. Outstanding!
