| - How lucky can you get?
We walked into this restaurant around 5 in the evening. Very early for dinner, but such were the circumstances.
We found ourselves in Madison, running some CDs to a recording studio. After that, when we walked in, we were greeted by our server who was cordial. We sat at the window and reviewed the menu.
The server made sure we knew he was ready to take our order when we were ready and explained the restaurant--creative mid-western, not crazy coastal food ideas.
We ordered a Moody Blue cheese, the beet salad, a Cassoulet, duck (the special) and Pavlova for dessert.
My partner summed up the meal--perfect in every regard.
While everything was a standout, the standout of standouts was the cheese and the dessert. There was a very small dipping bowl of honey and some mustard with the cheese and they were taste heaven. We had never had a Pavlova. It was richly sweet, with the lively fruit taste of drizzled coulis.
They offer the choice of small plates or larger--the larger seem intended to share.
I had joked with our server that we were here for the early bird special. When our bill came, it had a 30% discount. I didn't understand why and asked--it turns out that on certain days, there is a happy hour discount--on everything!
Like I asked, how lucky can you get? Answer: Very!
