| - Stayed here for a bachelor party in late March. I normally don't check reviews for a place beforehand if I'm not the one to be booking the stay, so I didn't know what to expect. However, I just read some of the reviews and disagree with the low ratings and most reasons folks gave for them.
Yeah, the garage is a little outdated but those things in the way are holding up the whole building. Drive safe, drive slow, or take a taxi/uber and those pillars aren't gonna be a problem. The beds, in my opinion/own preference were a bit stiff...but hey, the kinda trip I was on, there really wasn't much sleep going on anyway. Ran into one dealer that looked like she hated her life, but everyone else was straight up great.
All right, that little part was my "CONS," the rest is really just praise.
The check in process was pretty much painless, my room wasn't ready by 2pm, but check in was at 4pm anyway. The painless part about it was I didn't have to wait in the check in line to get the not so good but understandable news. There were multiple check in kiosks that a staff member directed me to and showed me how to use. EASY SQUEEZY. If I didn't have friends there already, I could have easily checked my bags in to the service desk.
The lobby was pretty straightforward, the casino was on the smaller end if your comparing it to the Venetian or Ceasers, but it had everything I was looking for. It also seemed like there was always a couple of $5-$10 tables open, no matter what time of day or day of the week it was.
There were two lobby bars. Directly across from the check in counter looked like the bar (and proven later that week) was the bar the late fancy(er) crowd hangs out at. There is a sports bar about 40 yards away and was, by far, my favorite spot. Catalyst bar had the video poker machines and ridiculously awesome bar staff. Don't get it wrong, the little time that I spent at the other bar showed that their bar staff was also friendly but I posted up at Catalyst 95% of my drinking time at Linq.
This hotel and casino is located pretty much where you want to be on the strip. In between the Venetian and The Mirage, Harrahs is right next door and that means the food court including McDonalds and Chipotle is a 5 minute walk out the door, depending on which door you leave out of. Hot Doggery is right outside when you exit through to the High Roller Strip, and will keep your hot dog fix fed for the duration of your stay (reviewed separately).
The rooms were very well updated and super clean (cleaning staff is great). The bathrooms are very well kept but I could complain that there was no "fart" fan and the door does not lock, but I didn't care at the time. Not sure if it was just my tower, but didn't have a balcony, however, I did see balconies on the opposite side of the pool. On the small side if you're staying in the room with more than 3 people.
Didn't get a chance to check out the pool but it looked like everyone was having a good time from my window. I could see a pool bar in between two separate decent sized pools. Whenever I looked, it seemed like there was ample seating. I may have heard some music coming from out there, but I'm not too sure.
Hospitality with exception of that one dealer named "Mom" was on point. Everyone was courteous, polite, and seemed very happy. Anyone that I asked help from gave help with a smile and a thank you.
All in all, I would make this a top 3 choice of places to stay. Work is bringing me back to Vegas next month to stay at the Venetian, but if I decide to extend my stay, I'll be staying here for the duration of the extra time. I know for sure that I'll be sitting at Catalyst bar on my down time from the work function fosho.
