It was Friday, 3/9/18. We made sure we'd stop by during Spring Training once more. We loved the food. Along with the baseball, this is one place we were anticipating.
Made a reservation for 7:00, dinner did not hit out table until 8:07. It was busy on Friday, but an hour was a long wait. The brushetta with several flavors was really great. Very recommended.
Then, the wait started.....
The butternut squash I had waited two years to savor once more.....very little flavor. Minimal squash, mostly pasta. Drowned in what seemed more like margarine than butter. Wife had the Wild Boar Ragu. Tasted like ground beef with Prego. We were not happy with the food at all. In hindsight, multiple orders of the brushetta would have been the ticket.
Key lime pie was really good.
Ordered decaf coffee as it was late in the evening for regular coffee. It was watered down coffee. How do you mess up coffee?
The only thing I could think of was the cooks on those other days were off this night. It happens. We'll look out for a new place to make our new "traditional" spot during next Spring Training.
Maybe we should focus on Spring Training baseball when in Phoenix.
