  • I've literally been craving venezuelan for months and I finally got a chance to check out My Arepa in Mesa! This is the only venezuelan place in the valley, but pretty damn good. We started off with the Tequeno's. They are literally breadsticks on crack. And way better than the cheesesticks of the frozen variety that you would find at most restaurants. I could literally sit around and eat these all day! So good! Next, my friend and I each got an empanada. I got the shredded beef empanada. It was way bigger than what I was expecting. The beef filling was delicious :) and the dough had kind of a sweet taste but it was nonetheless tasty It was definitely a little messy though. I definitely got some of it on my shirt, because I am a clumsy f*ck. My friend liked hers too, but she was able to eat it without spilling it all over herself. Only half point off was for the sauce it came with. I think it would have been better with green hot sauce, but to each their own. Since we were having a fat day, my friend and I also got an order of Arepas (since Arepas are literally the best thing since Jesus). I got the "Queen of Queens" one. It was chicken salad with sliced avocados. It was perfection. The arepa was huge and had the best flavor. All the food was extremely hot and tasted fresh, and I did not find the wait time to be long at all. Maybe the people complaining about the wait aren't taking into account that all the food is extremely fresh and cooked to order. In conclusion, this place is awesome. But next time I come here (which will hopefully be soon), I will make sure to bring a tide stain stick.
