  • My flight had gotten cancelled from Charlotte to Boston due to Hurricane Sandy, so I had to rent a car to drive up to try and beat the storm. But because the minivan I had with Thrifty would have charged an extra $300+ for one-way rental drop offs, I chose to go with Enterprise. So, I dropped off my minivan next door at Thrifty and got a minivan at Enterprise. The nice folks at Enterprise actually gave me the better of 3 minivans they had, with leather seats, etc and much better features. It was definitely better than my minivan with Thrifty and I think better than the other 2 that they had at Enterprise as well. So, they get points for making our family road trip more comfy for the long haul. As luck would have it, the storm ended up catching up to us, and we actually had to stay overnight at a hotel in PA. This meant that I would be returning my minivan a day late, and it was not a cheap rate either. When I returned my minivan (safely Thank God) the next afternoon, I asked at the Boston rental car location if there was anything they could do due to the fact that I was stuck in the hurricane. They directed me to call the Charlotte office because my contract was with that office. Five minutes later, the nice folks at Enterprise granted an adjustment and only charged me for the original rental. Now, of course, this kind of situation doesn't happen everyday, but I was very thankful that the manager at Enterprise decided to grant a price adjustment. After all, they weren't obligated to do this. In general, rental cars are a commodity and I've come to expect very little, especially with all the nickel and diming that we have to face at the counter. But in this case, this definitely stuck out as an exception to the rule.
