| - Who doesn't love the restaurant choices in the Gourmet Ghetto. Just ask Aaron Chamberlin chef/owner of St. Francis and his girlfriend Lee del Real whom have only been in their petite, 1950's bungalow in the Coronado historic neighborhood for maybe 4 months now.
The Main Ingredient herself lives in a 1930's maybe 40's sleek and timeless Bungalow home in the Coronado Historic District. It's not hard to noticed MI's roomy patio as you walk up and then notice it is also 'dog friendly'.
The interior is both enchanting and intriguing with the use of dense materials from our Phoenician Forefathers. Good looking oak flooring. Phoenix Red Brick fireplace and sage green finished plaster walls and ceiling which gives every room a darker and very intimate feel.
I realize MI has an award winning top dog, a plump, juicy all-beef frank from Schreiner's Sausage, a local institution right up the street. The dog is tucked into a soft, dense sourdough bun that's lightly toasted, slathered with spicy Boont Amber Ale mustard, and sprinkled with red onion. $7.
Sounds heavenly right? You know it is, but I go for Tenderbelly bacon, local tomato, sliced avocado, red onion, field greens & house-made chipotle mayo, on sourdough. The meat is thick, the avocado is rich and the sandwich finishes with a little chipotle heat.$8.
My draft ale was good and I cant remember which one I bought, but it was loud and hoppy. $5 And Thank You Haylee, we had a great time.
