This trail is very family-friendly and has offshoots where you can hike up high or do Curvy mountain bike trails. Your main trail is very wide and the mountain bikers and horseback riders are extremely friendly and considerate. There are clean restrooms and water available for your pets there has always been ample parking and I've gone new numerous different times of the week. It's actually a historical site so be sure to view the museum like structure at the beginning of the trail head. They also have family events where you can view birds and mammals of the desert check out their calendar that they advertise at the main trail head on Alma school Road. The only 'challenge' to this trail is finding the trailhead so make sure you map it before you drive there but there is considerably good cell phone service so you'll be fine
