We decided to check out a local joint for brunch. It's our first weekend in our new place in Ahwatukee. This place is great for ambience. It's a cool looking joint. The coffee is TERRIFIC! The food - at least what we had - was mediocre. The disappointment was that this place has the makings to be a great joint - not just ok.
My husband had the Corque sandwich. It was ok but the sandwich didn't have enough spread & was a bit dry. He also ordered hashbrowns. Wow, how can you mess up hashbrowns? Well, make them like shoestrings & serve them cold. That's how ya jack up hashbrowns.
Anyway, I had the egg, avacado & chorizo burro. The menu offers brisket & pulled pork. I asked to sub the chorizo with brisket & was told that the brisket & pulled pork weren't ready yet. Another disappointment. So I chose chicken. My food arrived & it was ok but flavorless. No seasoning - at least none I could distinguish. Their fire roasted salsa came with it & it was very good. (I ordered a point to take home with me). It was what made the burro edible.
Service was slow. They were busy but I waited almost 20 min for my salsa & the check. My server was nice & she was good at checking on us & keeping the coffee flowing. Just slow at the end of our meal with the check, salsa & change.
Will we go back? Maybe. I think we may try their lunch. You know how it is - sometimes a place is good at one or the other - lunch or breakfast - but maybe not both. But so far we rate it a 3 star.... maybe lunch will change my mind.
