  • The room: 5 stars Diamond Employees: 1 star Averages to 3. We spent a weekend here for no particular reason. It's a Diamond Resort, and we own a timeshare that was another company recently bought by Diamond. I've stayed in other Diamond resorts (Polo Towers, Carriage House, Bell Rock, The Ridge at Sedona) before, and I'm always happy with the general condition of their rooms. This was no exception. The room was HUGE. The one bedroom was significantly larger than my wife's condo back east. Separate dining room, balcony, and the largest closet I've ever seen outside of a regular house. I'd stay there again. Hell, if I could find that same floorplan as a condo in Vegas, I'd buy it. And then there's the staff. While outwardly friendly, I have a theory. I think that Diamond secretly kidnaps each employee's wife and/or children and keeps them hostage until the employee is able to talk an unsuspecting patron into attending a Diamond sales presentation. Because there's no other explanation for the vigorous, high-pressure, hostage-crisis situation they create every single time you interact with them. Anyway, once one particular employee (I'll call him Kenny, because that's his name) found out we had bought into another company that was bought by Diamond, he cornered my poor wife and convinced her that friendly Diamond employees would be able to answer all of her questions about the integration/merger if she agreed to attend a seminar the next day. Mercifully, my phone rang and I had to go take a call at that exact time, and I'm kinda lucky to still be married at this point. Anyway, we headed to the designated place at the designated time, and based on years of experience dodging timeshare presentations, I was immediately able to smell a rat. So when Little Miss Friendly came out and introduced herself, I told her straight out that "if this is a sales pitch about buying Diamond, you can forget it. We were told that you'd be answering our questions about Diamond's purchase of our old company." She fessed up, which may be the first time I've ever NOT been lied to by a timeshare employee. (I feel sorry for her family). So, we extricated ourselves and were able to enjoy our day without having to risk Stockholm Syndrome. But we still don't know shit about how Diamond's purchase of our old timeshare company.
