I've been going to this place since I was a wee little lady. Every Saturday I would go with my mom and grandma to pick up produce and meat for my grandmother's restuarant. There used to be a place with live chickens and ostriches that you could pick out and have slaughtered, plucked and chopped up. Imagine my horror when my grandma let me pick out the cutest one and instead of taking it home as a pet we came back later to pick up dead chicken little. Something tells me that place was shut down by the health department.
Awww...childhood memories.
Anyways, I agree with the previous posters that most of the produce is pretty bad. Most of it spoils after a day or two. It used to be great. Until one day our favorite vender told us they were being forced out by high rent prices. This happened to a lot of them. They were replaced by heckling aggressive venders selling each item like it was their last day on earth. I now either park on W 25th and skip it entirely or walk through with my head down to avoid making eye contact.
However, the inside remains the same. The meat is great and over the years there have been a lot of amazing new food options. From cupcakes to turkey jerkey to fresh seafood, this place is great.
