  • I'm going to go ahead and say "it's a five star hangout for a local with a fam in tow on the strip". If you don't fit into that category, you probably will be underwhelmed. But...many locals don't dare drag the families out to the strip, sticking to safer outdoor mall alternatives like Town Square, Downtown Summerlin, Tivoli even. Maybe. However, I'm not a stroller mom, I'm a Las Vegas resident and a hard core Las Vegas enthusiast with two kids who have outgrown swing sets, but don't yet have driver licenses. We frequent downtown, but Freemont street makes me cringe a bit- it's awesome that you are earning a living! But I prefer my kids consider earning potential other than haggling for tips with a photo opp, wether you are dressed as Bumblebee or just have your boobs hanging out. And so I recently discovered The Park. There are a few eatery choices-CPK, Shake Shack, Beerhaus (love, by the way, LOVE), plenty of outdoor seating, tons of people watching and magical glittering views of the strip, which is why I moved to Vegas in the first place. Here's my routine- we park at Mandalay and tram it to Luxor, then Excalibur. Cause it's free, air conditioned, hits a bunch of Pokestops and is FUN. We then wander around Excalibur a bit and spend a bit of time and money at the arcade with a sinister name. Dungeon something or other, smacking of adult content, but it isn't! We then cross over to New York New York, where depending on weather and time og day we either lumber through air conditioned casino, marveling at shops, or take full advantage of glittering lights, music, outdoor DJ, misters, and crowd watching, and walk alongside NY NY to get to The Park. At The Park we usually argue about who wants to eat where. We never agree, so everyone ducks into a restaurant of their choice and we all meet up with universal (shared by all restaurants there) aluminum trays and find a fabulous outdoor place to eat, people watch and gaze at the lights. If you sit close enough to Beerhause (love, did I mention?) you get a pleasure of live music Thursday-Sunday nights. Either way the vibe is chill, diverse, and relaxed. No, it's not a spot to go Back to School shopping, but if you love Vegas and want to feel a little bit like a tourist again (come on, like two people were born and raised here and stayed), check it out one night. Then if you are feeling saucy, walk to Monte Carlo and tram it to the Bellagio for dessert and fountains.
