Vinyl at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is the new home of the successful Raiding the Rock Vault Show (effective 3/11/2017).
In a nutshell, RTRV is a mash-up of legit rockers from different bands playing a cornucopia of classic rock anthems. I'm a fan who has followed the show through two other casinos on a long and winding road to Vinyl.
I was up front and center for the first show at Vinyl. My review of the show from before is logged under "Raiding the Rock Vault." Here, I'm just going to lay out my pros and cons of the venue, with respect to this show.
Pros
Intimate with less seating than prior venues
Easy access bar, with stiff cocktails
Likely a more rocker based audience
The show still rocks. They trimmed some of the fat.
The rockers seem to truly enjoy playing and each other
Cons
The ticket price went up
The seats themselves are typical stackable chairs
Security and ushers seem to be lacking in presence and action, which permitted people occupying cheap seats to collect around the stage in front of other people's premium seats.
It is located off the strip and requires a cab for transportation if you're not a local or staying at the Hard Rock.
Overall, the show continues to provide great entertainment. Since I was there on night one, I expect there will be some tweaks here and there to make the show and venue work even better.
Cheers!
