  • So I guess it is time I share my love of musicals with Yelp. I don't go to very many, but every so often I will get some tickets and I have to say that the Princess of Wales theatre is the best one to go to if you have not-so-great seats. If you are fairly far back, the seats are staggered nicely and you should still have a great view. I was in the 2nd last row for the Sound of Music, and it was still very enjoyable and I still felt to be part of the "action" (and yes, there is action in the Sound of Music). Now - if you have great, up close seats it is still good but I find the Royal Alexandra Theatre to be the better venue when you are sitting up close. I feel like the seating on the front of the ground floor is better there. I didn't have the greatest view when I was on the floor and off to the side at the Princess of Wales. But with that said, the seats are comfier here. I guess it really depends which show you'd like to see. Anyways, the productions at both theatres are awesome and I would go any time. Refreshments are expensive, be prepared. Eat before you go. Sitting through any musical, no matter how awesome, on an empty stomach (or an empty wallet after buying an ice cream and bottle of water) is not a pleasant experience. I must admit, I do find it hard to not get a beer and some chocolate covered almonds during the intermission, though. Oh - and show up ON TIME. The show starts 5 minutes after the time on your ticket, at the very latest. And even then, you'll be ticking off people when you have to squeeze by them to get to your seat. There isn't a lot of room to get past when people are sitting down (and they must be TTC riders because they refuse to stand up to let you by). Which brings me to my final point: pee before you see the show. You won't want to get up during it, and good luck facing the horrendous lineups at intermission.
