I really enjoy the Pork Bone Soup at Owl of Minerva. It's rich with flavour and usually has lots of meat. The service is usually fast and efficient.
Tonight's experience was different from my past visits, and not in a good way. The servers were not very friendly. The food was not as hot as usual. The service was very slow. We had to push the call button several times before a server came over.
We came here, out of our way, becuase we wanted a good bowl of pork bone soup. We ordered four bowls. I was hoping to capture a picture of the steam rising from the bowl, as I had in the past. These bowls were not sizzling hot, like I'm used to from every Korean restaurant, or even like the bowls on the table next to us. Only one of the bowls had potato. I can forgive that because there was a generous amount of pork in each bowl.
The soup still tasted good. So did the side dishes. We never got the Kalbi that we ordered and we weren't going to wait around for it. It took a few more hits on the call button to get our bill. Good, they didn't charge for the kalbi. They totally forgot, even though our order was confirmed in the beginning. The service tonight was a big fail.
If you think I'm being too harsh, consider this - a couple sat at the table right next to us about five minutes after we arrived. They got their sizzling bowls of soup before we even had a chance to order. They were done and gone in no time. That's what we expected.
