First I should let readers know this rating is based on my first visit only. I am a ClassPass used in Orange County and was visiting Phoenix so I wanted to get a spin class in.
First impression and Customer Service wasn't what I had hoped:
My boyfriend, roommate and I arrived about 30 minutes before the class and the woman at the front was friendly. She asked if we needed shoes and I told her that we had brought our spin shoes, lifting mine up. We sign the waivers go put on our shoes and go to clip in and realize that the pedals are for a different clip typ. I ask the woman if there are any bikes with pedals for our clips and her response was "oh no sorry, you're going to have to rent shoes." My immediate thought is "ok...she can't be charging me right? I mean no where on line does it say what clips they have and it's our first class." Don't get me wrong, I understand charging for rentals for people that are coming in on a consistent basis or even more than once, but we had tried to come prepared, I scoured their website before to make sure that we had everything and at every other spin gym I have been to the first class is a little more lenient with shoe rentals. She was nice about it and said "don't worry we take cash or credit card" but by this point I was a little annoyed because she had said "how come you guys don't have the same clips as your roommate? She has the right ones." Maybe it's an Orange County thing(?) but the pedals here are interchangeable so each side is made for a different clip. The setup is a little strange because you have to bring all of your things back with you and set them next to your bike, instead of any sort of locker system. They also shut the room with a large black out curtain. I don't know how long they have been in business maybe they are still working on getting a cubby/locker system going?
Instruction and Class:
I am a frequent spinner at about 4 different studios in Orange County so it may not be fair to compare this gym to those. I enjoyed the class. The instructor was full of energy. The class is a ride to the beat class which I enjoy. And the class seemed to be full which is always more fun.
All in all we probably would have come back another time on our visit to Phoenix had we gotten a little bit better of customer service but I was just a little too unimpressed by the charge on the first time when we attempted to be prepared. I know $3/time isn't much it's just the thought process.
