I received a flyer to join LA fitness for a "no-money down" promotion. I went into the club with my flyer and worked out. Then I sat down with the business manager. He asked what my interests were and I told him that I was interested in a club with babysitting for my 3 small children. He understood and signed me up. He started my registration but my promotion was "not yet in the computer" so he said that he would have to wait until Monday to process my registration and never gave me a contract to look over. On Monday, I received my receipt. I went to the club a few weeks later with my 3 small children and was told that I didn't have childcare privileges (my primary reason for joining) and that would be another $15.00/child/month. The club never disclosed this to me prior to joining. They are using bait and switch tactics to encourage membership and are not disclosing all fees associated with memberships. I was embarrassed - having lugged my 3 kids there - and I'm sure many others would have paid the fee to avoid the embarrassment. I was completely blindsided and want to make others aware of this horrible practice. I have cancelled my membership and have filed a complaint with the better business bureau. Still waiting to see if they will refund my membership fees.
