Discounted clothes shouldn't mean half-off on customer service.
Long-time Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack customers here. We stopped at this location on vacation and found it to be one of the newer, cleaner, more orderly and more spacious locations we've come across. The selection in variety and size was very good from tops to pants to shoes and even accessories. (Just might get us back there before vacation is over to pick up a watch.)
We are seasoned, relatively not-needy customers. We can find what we need without much help, despite enjoying the extra attention we get when we shop at a Nordstroms. While we don't expect the same level of customer service at the Rack as we do at the department store, there is still the Nordstrom brand and it suffered at this location at this time.
It's hot outside ... 110 degrees. This is short-wearing weather. My wife had on shorts but found some heels she really liked. (There is a fashionably-technical term for these shoes, but it escapes my vocabulary which consists of "Those look good on you" while I point at them. I'm like Forrest Gump sitting on a park bench trying to opine on peoples' shoes.)
My wife really needed to see the shoes with jeans on. It just happens that she was shopping for jeans too. On to the dressing room.
The attendant at the dressing room was ... rude. I don't mean that in the blanket statement way that someone was unkind or didn't let me have my way. I mean discourteous, unbending and unwilling. My wife wanted to try on the jeans AND the shoes. "No shoes in the dressing room." Seems like a fair rule. We inquired if she could try on a pair of jeans, walk out of the dressing room and then try them on. That was a big negative too. She was probably just following rules, but that was far removed from the Nordstrom brand of customer service.
So ... left to our own devices we still figured out how to try on the jeans and shoes. (It wasn't a pretty or convenient effort, got it done and stepped it up.)
It's a fine store. Good deals. But a rude attendant will get two stars whacked off. Step it up and get your stars back.
