| - Went there for the pri fixe menu. There were positives and negatives for the whole night. First, we were seated in the solarium which was looked nice, but after being seated, we quickly noticed ants on our table. After squashing 10 or so, it was clearly evident to the wait staff that we were not happy about the situation. Dead ants on the table were noticeable and the staff offered no mitigation. Not up to Ritz Level standards.
On the positive side, one in our party really didn't like the pri fixe menu and the chef made several substitutions of which all were delicious.
Back on the negative side the waiter we had had a very thick accent and we all strained to understand his English. We eventually got there and this being Montreal there's nothing technically wrong with this, but at the price point and level of restaurant, I expect a waiter with impeccable English, and they could have switched our's out when there were issues and didn't. I have been to other high end restaurants in Montreal with no issues.
Unfortunately, the foie gras course was inedible to me and others at my table. Several of us just ate a bite or two. Now granted I am not a huge foie gras fan, but at this level of restaurant, I don't ever expect to gag at the table, which I did. I would have also expected the staff to ask me if there was a problem. Which I didn't get so unfortunate.
Other courses were delivered at the high level service you would expect of this place. For the price the over experience was sub par.
