| - I showed up for the Facebook $35 massage, not having read these reviews.
Strike 1 was that when I walked in, they had a prominent sign telling me that $19 is an expected tip (20% of the full price massage which is allegedly $95). I nearly walked out just on that.
Strike 2 is that they need an awful lot of information to give a massage, including my driver's license? I understand the medical forms, I've been to plenty of massages, but they wanted to know my profession?! I made something up when their iPad wouldn't let me leave it blank.
I got into the room and the beds themselves were great. Comfortable, with heated pads, and wide. My massage was a little below average. I had told the therapist about areas of concern and they weren't fully addressed. In fact she saved those areas for last instead of starting there.
Strike 3 is that on the exit, they made a fairly hard push for the membership. At first it was $10, and then "we ask for one month commitment at $65." I said no thanks, but that wasn't enough. She pushed, and then asked my wife if SHE wanted the membership.
We have a membership already at La Vida, one mile north and only came to Massage Luxe for the discount. You get what you pay for.
