| - Petro is the closest gas station/convenience store to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Petro is really more of a truck stop; hence, Petro Stopping Centers (this is getting redundant, lol).
Essentially, this stopping center is what I would refer to as a smorgasbord of various amenities, such as: a diner (Iron Skillet), quick stop for coffee (Dunkin' Donuts), gas station (Valero), large format Petro gas station for 18 wheelers, truck maintenance and tire shop, gambling hall (that's a bit of a stretch, but there are several machines), laundromat, game room (billiards & a couple of arcade games), movie theater (I find this hard to believe, but ok), Verizon kiosk, convenience store, showers, and of course, restrooms (in fact, there are two!). There are also mailboxes for both USPS and FedEx. Oh and I almost forgot, a pet area equipped with AstroTurf and pet waste bags. Basically, you could park outside and live out of your car on their premises for a while. Would you want to? I certainly wouldn't, but that doesn't mean you couldn't, or that people don't (believe me, I've seen it).
I'm working on the NDOT I-15 highway widening and Petro has been my saving grace for Red Bull, chips, gasoline, coffee, and occasionally, a greasy breakfast, on the regular. Most importantly though, Petro saves me by providing a bathroom with running water and soap. This might not sound like much, but try working on a highway construction project with over 100 men and being the only woman. Although the restroom is not always in working order, there are two separate locations, and one is usually operational. They also seem to be cleaned on the regular, but due to the high volume that comes through here (and how disgusting people can be), they still become pretty gross. I suppose I can't really complain, it is a truck stop after all.
As far as the convenience store goes, it's pretty standard, and a bit higher priced than the typical Terrible's or Green Valley Grocery. Monsters are not $2 for anything, and 12oz Red Bull's are $2/$5.50. A single serving bag of Kettle brand chips is $1.79. In addition to snacks, you can also find a small selection of auto maintenance supplies, cheesy gifts, and other swag typical of a large gas station.
Overall, I can't really complain about Petro. It's convenient and has a whole heck of a lot you may or may not (or realistically, probably do not) need. Is it outdated? Heck yeah. Is it divey? You betcha. But then again, it is a truck stop in North Las Vegas. What more could you honestly expect?
