  • I always thought that the Las Vegas Monorail was primarily designed for and used by conventioneers. Although this may be true, I just recently discovered that it's a great way to reach the busiest parts of the strip in only a matter of minutes! MGM's recent policy to charge for parking is the reason I was even seeking alternatives in the first place. What I found is that for locals, a one way ticket only costs a buck! ($5 non locals) As with most LV locals, I hardly ever go to the strip but whenever I need to go to one of the arenas, I'm going to use the monorail from now on to avoid traffic congestion and parking fees. It's actually a fun ride as well with an elevated view of the strip as well as a recording promoting strip properties near the stops. The only complaint I have is that it's a bit of a hike from any monorail station to the properties on the west side of the strip, and also the new T-Mobile Arena. Oh well, I'd walk quite a ways even if I parked my car down there and now I can at least save $10-20 on parking. PS. The monorail runs from the MGM to the SLS. Unfortunately, it does not extend to the airport.
