Full disclosure: the fabulous owner of this salon is my neighbor & now friend.
I've had a complicated relationship with my hair as well as justifying spending money on services for said hair. I usually go through phases of consistently going to the salon for six months, and then swearing it off for the next year.
After almost a year of not getting a hair-cut, I decided it was time. Bad. Split ends, random splotches of left over hair color from previous dye jobs.
I scheduled a hair-cut with Ruth, who is great for a lot of reasons- she has clearly been in the business for a long time and knows her stuff. She chatted me up appropriately and gave a great head massage during my shampoo. I didn't even have to lie to her about the fact that I don't blow dry my hair (I usually get told that I need to blow dry my hair and then get bombarded with product recommendations). She made me feel comfortable and great and didn't judge me for my very low maintenance attitude towards my hair.
I ended up scheduling another appointment with her just a week later to get my hair dyed. She was thorough and wonderful, just like the first time.
The actual salon has a great vibe, earthy but stylish. The other staff that I've encountered are professional, funny and kind.
Ruth will now be my go-to for hair. At least for the next six months before I swear off spending money on my hair again. ;-) I would highly recommend this place!
