It was a random accident. I wasn't quite up for the commitment of a full brunch and the obligatory bill, but I needed to find a place that would have something small enough to take the edge off. High gluten has been off my radar for a while, due to blood sugar issues that I try hard to keep in control. They have soup here, and how much risk is there with that selection? As it turns out, more than I thought. No cup available (or even offered when inquired) forced me to pony up $5 for a bowl of one of the more tepid and oversalted soups I've encountered in recent memory. The FOH register guy who may have had some kind of mood disorder took my soup to the prep area, where I waited about 10 minutes for what should have been a 1 minute nuke job in the microwave. The cast of characters working there would have been at home as extras in a revamped Mad Max movie, but I digress. Let's just say when I am walking on that block, I won't be stopping back for a while.
