I just came back from a conference at this place. This hotel looks pretty cool from the pictures but, believe me, those pics are very deceiving. The rooms are very old and look as if someone just slapped paint on them and called it a day. Carpet was quite old and dirty. The furniture is old, mini fridge not very cold and the bathroom was old with small 6" tile (complete with mildew), shower leaked, AC is old and loud but does have a thermostat in the wall, and the balcony was just stupid - very narrow and with an old high concrete wall you can't really see over if you were sitting down (if they provided patio chairs - which they don't) and some kind of grate in the floor of it. I was there 5 days and housekeeping never once vacuumed the room while I was there. The ice machine had gnats constantly swarming around it and one of the women attending our conference had her foot badly cut when a sconce fell off the wall and shattered near her.
The pools seemed pretty nice (I didn't use them) but there was a lot of stuff - grass, leaves, etc - floating on the top both times I walked down to check them out. The lobby area was nicely decorated but the computers and the printer in the "business center" were both down when I tried to use them and the staff wasn't able to get them working. The desk clerks were all wearing polos and jeans or khakis the whole time I was there and the desk clerk who was there when I checked out had on pants so big they were sagging down so we could all see his underwear. Ugh! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Very old, not well maintained and waaayyyy overpriced. Our group was given a discount rate of $149/night and they wouldn't even offer a shuttle service to/from the airport. What a rip-off.
The best thing about this place is its location. It is right smack dab in Old Town and close to several stops for the city's free trolly service that takes you to many points around the city.
