I recently moved to the East side but have shopped many Lee's liquor locations. I've racked up some serious reward points at Lee's and attend each Wine event hosted by them. However, the Lee's location at Maryland Pkwy/Windmill has caused me to purchase my spirits elsewhere. I was at that location Christmas Eve to stock up on Holiday cheer. I attempted to enter the store when a female employee blocked the doorway. All in one breath she directed me (with attitude)
to 'leave my purse at the counter and if I had a problem with the policy talk to management'. I stood there speechless and contemplated turning around. I decided to hang onto my wallet and handed my purse over to the lady at the counter. As I filled my cart, I noticed two other women in the store carrying fairly large purses. I mentioned my observation to the staff and they began to ask women to hand over their purses to the rep at the counter. This experience frustrated customers in line as well as customers who handed over their purses. I felt singled out until I spoke up. I understand the need to surveil thieves or 'would be' thieves. It seems there could be some way to do this without offending the majority of customers. Total Wine/Costco 'Here I come.'
