| - What would any good pet owner look for in a great boarding facility? Clean and spacious play areas? Flexible hours? Reasonable prices? Access to a vet if something were to go wrong with your pet in your absence? Dedicated, friendly, pet loving staff? Dog Daze & Cafe has all of these things.
First of all, Dog Daze is not only willing to provide a full tour but offers a free day for first timers. I was impressed with the entire facility, which includes different play areas for different sized/energy-level dogs that are secure and fun with toys and things to climb on. There's also an outside area with additional toys and structures, as well as the opportunity for water play on hot days. The kennel area is organized and neat, with various-sized enclosures for the dogs.
Second, I love that the weekday hours are extensive but there are also windows on the weekend for pickup times, even on Sundays. This, combined with the extremely reasonable day and overnight rates for daycare and boarding make leaving our puppy behind not so difficult.
Third, and most importantly, what makes boarding Penny so easy is they fact that not only is there a full veterinary hospital that shares the facility (The BIG EASY Animal Hospital: http://www.tbeah.com/)--a full-service hospital with modern in-house diagnostics and surgery facilities--but there is an abundance of staff who are so committed to caring for animals that, at this point, I can't even imagine choosing another kennel. Calls are met with courteous greetings and a helpful nature (e.g. I cut our pick up time close and was able to pay over the phone and have our puppy waiting in the lobby). Staff are willing to text photos or video if you request it. I also found no resistance to my sheet of instructions regarding our specific wishes on how Penny should be cared for. And, as if that's not enough, when I picked up our puppy, she was both ecstatic to see me and also full of big love and generous goodbyes for staff.
Being comfortable with boarding Penny at Dog Daze is akin to feeling safe when I leave my son at daycare: I can walk out confident and relaxed, knowing that my dog will be taken care of on all levels and with the same amount of love and concern as she would get from her own family.
I am very happy with my initial experiences and plan to send Penny there whenever the need arises. I highly recommend Dog Daze!
