| - Upon move-in, my apartment was not ready so I had to live with my mom for 9 days. When I moved in 9 days later, the only thing that has been done since the previous tenant lived here was cleaning of the carpets and pretty new appliances. The apartment was in pretty bad shape, even after waiting 9 days: the shower didn't work, the walls (and every thing else) were dirty. Various small things were broken or dirty.
These didn't get fixed until I met with Candace, the manager. She, along with Ben, were very helpful in getting the maintenance staff to fix these problems. After all of the repairs, the apartment is in much better condition. I like the location and the place is quiet. The pools are nice and the residents are friendly. The grounds are kept up well, but the hallways frequently have bags of trash in them due to the lazy residents.
While the apartment is now in suitable condition, I shouldn't have to nag and plead for work to get done in a reasonable amount of time (2 weeks). The apartment was in a terrible condition when I had to move in 9 days late, so I'm not sure why I had to wait.
That being said, things are getting better--work requests are being done under two weeks, for the most part. The front office staff is friendly and professional, but they don't have control over the maintenance issues.
To keep the last bit of leverage you have left during the leasing process, don't sign the lease and accept the keys until you've seen the condition of your apartment. Be sure it's been adequately cleaned and up to snuff. If it's not, ask for another unit or live somewhere else and save yourself the hassle. If you get a nice, clean unit that's in good condition, I'd recommend living here.
I'll keep this post and my rating updated accordingly--I'd totes give more stars if I saw less trash in the halls, dog shit was cleaned up, and if the magnetic hallway doors were repaired.
