| - I was pretty excited about the arrival of a new, larger supermarket, but was disappointed with Festival largely because of the layout and product selection. First of all, somebody in management seems to have instructed staff that good customer service amounts to beaming broadly and saying "Hello!!" to every customer in sight. If a customer looks lost or confused, staff should totally approach and say "Hi! Can I help you find anything?" but otherwise the barrage of aimless hellos - without offers of assistance - felt like a joke. It was especially frustrating since despite the masses of enthusiastic greeters, there were only two people working the registers when I went. Second, the layout is bizarre. Why are the vinegars so far from the olive oils? Why do you have to walk several aisles between milk & eggs and butter & yoghurt? Why are organic and local products segregated from other products as if the "normal" items will somehow be tainted should they cross paths? Finally, product selection. Why does a Madison supermarket sell Tyson chicken. Obviously many do, but it just underscores how much this supermarket has nothing to do with the neighborhood around it, or even the city for that matter. And for goodness sakes, PLEASE carry a higher quality selection in certain areas (e.g. jam - get Bonne Maman, and vinegars, oils, etc). This supermarket is oriented to people who want cheap food and don't care what they're putting into their bodies.
