| - I really liked this place and can see myself trying to find a reason to be in the area again just to go back there. I was picking up a box of Jamaican patties around the corner, wiling the afternoon away with my little bro on a weekday, when he suggested we stop in as he'd heard something or other about it. We weren't looking to EAT eat, but grabbed a bite just to see how it is.
It's a bright little spot where one could probably spend a good chunk of the day, rain or shine (I believe there will be outdoor seating come warmer weather) as they offer the typical Italian caffe fare: coffee, desserts and sweets such as pastries & gelati, panini, and pizza. One could easily start their day there with a slow coffee and dessert, then move on to lunch and laze around with a gelato...
We ordered the carne (meat) pizza ($9) which has ham, bacon, sausage, and chicken, and a couple of aranciatta sodas. They come in two sizes: small and large, with a price difference of ~$2. We were both going out for dinner that night so we opted to share a small after we were told it was good enough for two, and it was! Our pizza had a real homemade-ness to it. The crust was airy and had just the right crispness, and the flavour of the dough was PERFECT! I notice a lot of pizza places tend to add a little too much salt to theirs but this was just right. There were a few pieces of each topping, but enough so that each bite came with some form of meat. We liked it.
Next time I'll have to try their gelati for sure. I saw a couple of people eating the veal panini and I'm always a sucker for veal sandwiches so that'll be next too! It's probably a good thing they don't offer wifi as I can see people coming and never leaving.
