This is one from the archives as our trip up to Pittsburgh was last July. Obviously after this many reviews I'm not going to say anything that hasn't been said many times prior so I'll keep it short and sweet with a brief bullet pointed PSA:
* They do indeed depart rain or shine so if you made reservations show up because go time short of lots of lightening in the area will happen. The day we went it was a fairly steady drizzle and they still departed on time and in season reservations are definitely necessary.
* The prices especially for a family of four are on the expensive side but I suppose I get it because the concept is somewhat unique although more or less these Duck rides have not changed since we rode here ten years prior.
* The jokes/puns are indeed awful but for us we had a interesting crew as the guy driving looked and acted like Shaggy from Scooby Doo (maybe with the addition of wearing an almost Rasta head wrap) while the girl doing most of the talking was a slightly more hippy Daphne. Due to the rain the traffic was horrible and let's just say that some of Shaggy's driving habits would not have made their insurance company happy.
#tailgating is bad
#almost hitting pedestrians by driving on the sidewalk is worse
* On the good side my oldest daughter got to drive for quite a while as our boat had almost no other kids due to our luck of getting mixed in with a senior group.
* Bring cash to tip because that will be brought up at the end by the crew more than once.
Overall it was fun to see the kids enjoying the experience although from an adult prospective you're not learning anything from "the tour" that a quick spin on Wikipedia can't tell you. (i.e. PNC Park is where they play baseball in Pittsburgh as we're passing the Clemente statue. Duh? Really? That's the best you got?)
Would we do it again? Probably not but as a one-time gimmick it's worth throwing your money away on this one.
