  • We wanted to try DCSteakhouse for a while now, and one night craving steak made it happen. Well, we were excited to see all those ratings, raving about the food, or the service, or whatever anyone can find "good" at that place. The hostess was nice, she told us a table would be ready shortly; we are more than ok with that, and having a drink at the bar sounded good before moving to a table for dinner. No service at the bar, overwhelmed bartender, who just had time to say "i'll be right with you" and then.... nothing. We was never right with us. We sat down and waited. Our server, very busy as well, was empty, no charisma, no personality, an order taker, not a server. Drinks were finally ordered, and brought way too long after. Ordered food, salad was very impersonal, plastic bag lettuce with canned olives, commercial dressing, and tasteless tomatoes. Now the steak. 22 oz Ribeye for me, and "Surf and Turf" for my loving wife. Walmart quality steaks, not correctly cooked, tasteless again. What was tasteful was the portion of fries. Too bad they tasted like calamari. Told the waitress, she was defensive and swore it could not be possible, and asked "what do you want me to do?". Well, tell the guy in the ktchen, try my fries, listen to what I have to say since I just ate some of them.... I don't know, there are plenty of things you can do. Instead of fighting, we decided to try dessert, to rince off the taste of calamari fries. Once again, supermarket dessert, with canned whipped cream. Mediocrity at its best, we were happily surprised with the crowd. It is a busy restaurant, so they must do something right. We just could not find what it was.
