  • Calgary Farmers Market is located in the corner, south of Blackfoot in the SE. There is a ton of parking, as well as addtional parking in the rear. Spence and I use to go to the Calgary Farmers market located right near Mount Royal, but since it moved we haven't been to any farmers markets until this month. I heard about the M for Macaron in the Kingsland market so we went there one weekend. Great Macarons btw (see review). They didn't have Simple Simon Pies at the Kingsland location so I posted a thread, and found out the pies were at the Crossroads market so we went there another weekend. This weekend, we decided to hit the farmers markets for macarons and pies. Since they were at two different locations that we knew of and we were already in the SE, so we were thinking of working our route, farthest market first (Crossroads market) then on our way back come around to the Kingsland market. While on our way to the Crossroads and Kingsland markets we were passing blackfoot, and I was just being aware of my surrounds and notice "CALGARY FARMERS MARKET" as we drove by. I said to Spence, "Hey, Calgary Famers Market!" And as he was driving he looked but didn't see the sign I saw.... BUT THEN! he saw a smokin' 458 Ferrari parked near the market and asked if I wanted to check out the 'market'. Luckily there was a close turn off to the market or else we'd have to make a detour around to get there. We just parked in the first spot we saw with a little walking distance to the market. When I first walked in the market, there were a ton of people...but not SO MUCH that it was too crowded. The first think I noticed was "YUM BAKERY"...YUM Indeed. They're display is cute and fresh, and I saw MACARONS! :) I got 6: vanilla cappucino, peppermint, two salted caramel, raspberry and pistacio. (Review coming soon!). Then we walked around to see what was offered. It was seriously not a culture shock, but a FOOD SHOCK. There was just different foods EVERYWHERE. I really didn't know where to start. I saw bubble tea, donuts, cupcakes, pies, macarons, cakes, fruits, vegetables, meats, dim sum, candy....AHHH. Everything Spence and I wanted is there!!! Macarons + Pies!! :) So it was a one stop deal for us! We didn't have to go to the other markets!! First we went to get some food to eat, we went to the chinese place beside the Calgarys donuts to get some dim sum and then we went to the donut place to get some donuts for Spence. "I didn't get these at the Stampede this year! :( Sweet! I can get them now!! :)" The Calgary donuts have such a cute display, with mini donuts as well as regular donuts, funnel cake and churros! We got a bag for $5, which was a HUGE tin foil bag filled with fresh hot donuts over filling. It was simply a great heartattack in a bag. We then walked to get something to drink and decided to go to the Vietmese place beside Buttercream bake shoppe to get some strawberry mango bubble tea. I do not recommend the bubble tea! Small portion, doesn't seem fresh and it was ~$6! THEN we went to buttercream to get some cupcakes. We got red velvet and chocolate. (Review coming soon!) After all that, we got some pies at Simple Simons Pies (4 raspberry, 1 blueberry and 1 pumpkin @ $11 or $2 each). Lastly, to make us feel a bit better, we picked up some cheese and fresh green peppers. :) The Calgary Farmers Market is great! Depending on the vendor you visit, the prices vary. Some vendors can be a bit too pricey, and some can be just right. In my humble opinion, Calgary Farmers Market is a great place to stop by over the weekend, just to browse around, pick up some fresh produce/desserts or even just have a seat and visit with your friends! I will be back again! :)
