  • I've been a west-ender for as long as I've been in Toronto. I pretty much find all I want and need west of University Ave. Having said that every once in awhile I venture out to the east end for something unique. One particular Friday night I decided to head out onto the Danforth to catch an indie band show. Didn't turn out as enjoyable as I'd hoped and so stepped out mid evening to find another bar to get my drink on. It was then I came across Sauce. This places has oodles, oodles I say, of charm. The bar is essentially themed in a kind of New Orleans style vampire Lestat red. The closets I can compare, from the west end of Toronto, is Southern Accent of 10-15 years ago. It's warm and enveloping atmosphere without being overly pretentious. The bar servers were friendly and welcoming. The music played was tasteful and added to the ambience. To my delight I discovered they have a very good collection of not only craft beer but imports as well with decent prices. There are very few bars as warm and charming as Sauce in any part of Toronto. If I lived in the area it would easily be a regular haunt. Worth the visit if you are anywhere near the area.
