If you shop for hotels like I do- price, safety, and cleanliness are the priorities. This Red Roof Inn scores two out of three. The place is filthy. Add to that bad service. One star.
The lock to the room professed, "100% SMOKE FREE." Cigarette butts were everywhere outside the door, sidewalk, and parking lot. And, the "fresh" towels smelled of cigarette smoke, ostensibly because housekeeping employees smoked in the laundry room.
Speaking of housekeeping, the same folks never made it to service the room on Day Two. Not that they didn't have ample opportunity. My room was vacant from 10AM until 3PM. This wasn't a big deal; it was just indicative of how this property is managed. I switched out towels and lived with that.
Proximity to Pittsburgh may be this hotels biggest asset. I also felt safe here, but I would never return.
