  • In a town full of Thai restaurants, I've avoided this place for years due to the relatively lackluster average Yelp rating. I finally gave them a shot after reading good things about it from friends and seeing how cheap their lunch specials are ($5.95) in their insert in the weekly postal ads. I went for the pad see oew (with beef), which I feel is generally is a safe choice. My choice of egg drop soup (instead of salad with peanut sauce) arrived quickly. It was in the lower range of hot, not scalding. Worse yet, it was bland. There is nothing memorable about it but the lack of flavor. I still hadn't finished the foreboding soup entirely by the time my entree arrived. It concerned me that it came out so quickly, and I could tell from the first bite that there just wasn't a lot of sauce. Sure, the noodles were hot and not undercooked, and the veggies were decent, but you need to have that sweet and savory flavor to make the pad see oew what it is. The meat was okay but didn't really have any bite to it. It basically felt like a half-hearted attempt from a Chinese cook to do a Thai dish. Why Chinese? Because I recognized the language spoken by the employees and because no self-respecting Thai restaurant ever serves fortune cookies. I also sampled some of my friend's pad thai. Similar sauce issues, similar passable level of cooking. My egg roll, which I finally tried later on in the meal, was almost a typical uninspired vegetarian egg roll except for how mushy the filling was. In spite of how cheap the meal was, it was some of the worst Thai food that I've had. I was thinking about coming back to try a curry, but I don't have much faith that they'll execute it properly since they can't pull off the classic noodle dishes. Also, I would rather avoid the egg roll. I will stick to Thai Food To Go for awesome lunch specials or perhaps Penn's Thai House or Thai Chili for a short drive.
