  • One of our favorite places to enjoy the outdoors, the Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail is a wonderful place for people of all ages. There are panoramic views of Lake Mead along the way and you can learn about the history of the tunnels as you walk along the trail. It received its designation as the Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail on June 4, 2015 from the National Park Service. To find the trail, just park at the fee-free lot in Lake Mead Recreation Area that's located past the Alan Bible Visitor Center. There is plenty of signage to guide you to the trail, which is a dirt one, but nicely groomed and flat. If you have enough energy, the trail will lead you all the way to Hoover Dam, which is about 8 miles round trip. Even if you don't go all the way there, you can certainly enjoy the tunnels themselves and the scenery around it. Get outside!
