What can I say besides awesome!!!?
Condenser fan motor went out on one of my units so I decided to look up on YouTube how to do the repair.
So once the motor and the capacitor were both removed I needed to get the parts. First place I found online was APC and am I glad I did.
They're not close to where I live but it was 100% worth the drive.
Once I arrived I noticed the place was jamming with business! It took no time at all to be given a friendly greeting from behind the counter by Eddie.
I showed Eddie the bad parts and with a smile he said "no problem" and dashed back to a shelf and came back with the motor, another dash away and he returned with the capacitor.
Once Eddie asked some pertinent information about my unit and my experience, he instructed how to wire the new motor to the capacitor and then asked if I would like for him to grind off the excess shaft on the motor as well as if I needed the excess mounting bolts.
Of course I took him up on his offer!
Eddie dashed off to the back to do the work which gave me time to look around the busy shop and take note of how the rest of the customers were being treated.
Everyone was being served by a person with a smile on their face and every call was greeted with a friendly greeting.
I've got to say, I've been to all types of parts stores and have had many different experiences, many bad, some horrible and a few good. I have to say, this experience was fantastic.
Zero bravado and know it all type of attitude from anyone there and nothing but friendly smiles and plenty of information and experience to feel confidence to do the work myself.
I saved several hundreds of dollars doing the work myself and plenty of pride when cold air was blowing from my HVAC upon completion.
Thank you Eddie, the wires were the perfect length as well as the motor shaft.
Friends, make sure you bring your old parts in to the guys at APC. One, they can help you so much easier when they can look at the old parts to match up what you need. They can also make sure you will have enough wire on the new motor as well as the correct length on the motor shaft so you do not wear out your new motor prematurely or have to cut it yourself.
