| - When I first walked by this place, I thought it was called "Jaleel" and I was excited that "Family Matters" star Jaleel White (aka Urkel) had opened his own place. I just imagined finishing a terrific dinner, looking down at my empty plate and saying "Did I eat that?".
Alas, it's actually called Jaleo but it's still a terrific place. So while staying at the Cosmopolitan, a friend and I at here. Here's some of what we had....
Cheeses, all very good:
Idiazábal
Pasamontes Manchego
Caña de cabra
Other food items, all very good:
Patatas bravas
Lomo de buey con Valdeón (hangar steak)
Pulpo a la Gallega 'Maestro Alfonso'(octopus)
Garlic soup
For dessert, we also had the gin & tonic fizz sorbet (very good) and a tasty flan. I had some drink that was called "blood and something" but I can't remember what the something was (it was in Spanish) and my pal had wine which he enjoyed.
It's a lively place that's kind of loud, but very fun. Service was excellent so that's what pushes it to four stars for me. To be honest, the food was fine but at the price point, I should have been blown away. The service makes up for that small bit of dissonance.
In closing, did I eat that?
