My first time at Kabul was pretty great. I love the cozy atmosphere above state street. If you're a Madison Native or a college student, you're aware of how crazy the street can get. It was nice to feel a little excluded from it. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. I couldn't have asked for better service. We started out with the Baba ganoush and it was SOOOO delicious. I couldn't stop eating it. With our entrees, we had a choice of soup or salad and I chose the salad for something light so I could eat my entree without filling up too much on starters. The salad was alright but my boyfriend ordered the soup and my goodness, I've never tasted a soup so hearty and flavorful. GET THE SOUP, you won't be disappointed. I had the Chafik's Moroccan Lemon Chicken and it was pretty good, but I didn't have too much chicken on my plate as big as the portion was. Most of the plate was just rice, and the actual chicken entree, had big pieces of potato and very small amounts of chicken. I don't think I'd order that again but I am eager to explore the rest of the menu. Definitely check this place out if you're on State.
