  • Location is not prime but it is convenient, and certainly within walking distance (if you don't mind a walk) of The Strip and all it has to offer. The rooms are quite good and come with a lounge area and a separate bedroom with en suite, as well as a small but fully functional kitchen with a stovetop and a full-sized refridgerator. Vegas has some amazing restaurants but if you're staying here and don't want to eat out, you don't have to; the rooms at the Desert Rose have everything you need to make this a home-away-from-home. The one catch, if you're not already aware, is that this IS a timeshare, and timeshares LOVE to sell you extra services and they do NOT like to take 'no' for an answer. If you drive in, or even flew in and rented a car, they have you over a barrel, because their high pressure sales team will hold your parking permit hostage while they try to get you to agree to attend their "1-hour, no pressure" presentation. And there's a catch. A few catches, actually. One, they typically want you to hand over $20, in cash, to make sure you are going to show up the next morning...I mean, to reserve your spot at the presentation. Two, the "breakfast" is typically just bagels and coffee. I took my son with me, thinking at the very least it would be a free breakfast for him. We still ate breakfast later after we escaped. Three, it's not one hour, it will be longer, because they do NOT like to take 'no' for an answer, so don't think you can just say 'no, not interested', get your $20 back, and walk away with their gift card, show tickets, etc. You can say 'no' but they really want to know WHY you're saying no, because they're prepared with a rebuttal for every reason anyone could possibly say 'no', including loans if you 'can't afford it right now'. I hate that side of Shell/Wyndham, and the only reason we stay at the Desert Rose is because we've already paid for our membership, so spending money for a hotel when we've already essentially paid for one just doesn't make any sense. That said, it is a very nice place to stay at and the rooms and amenities are great, but if you're a big spender and you can get your favorite casino to comp you, just do that instead.
