  • The BUFFET has bequeathed to us all many things to be thankful for. In all seriousness though, think about it. When "most" people think buffet they think all you can eat (ayce) and average food quality, right? Right; However, the reason I think buffet's are ever so popular and important to the epicurean theology is not because of the quantity but rather another keystone of the American English vernacular... FREEDOM. Freedom is a very powerful "gimmick" restaurants employ [which we all fall victim too] to coerce patrons into thinking they are the captain, el presidente, la luchadora, and the head honcho of their own food eating destiny. Breaking this nonscientific hypothesis down one begins to realize we have become a society filled of imaginative free thinking charlatan's [aka pansies] who scoff and laugh at menus containing such disclaimers as "no substitutions!" or "additional fee's may apply". Many existentialists relate this chickenheartedness of linear movement to a consternation of structure and organization; similar to its analogous nature much like rusty shackles placed on man's progression towards lifes many possibilites. Now, while many readers are thinking wtmfs (what the motha f'n shits) does this rambling of philosophical food mumbo jumbo have to do with patties of meat???? Well, its sets the stage and illustrates the progression and direction of culinary "fast" food by placating to society's wants and needs. Why do you think the Chipotles, Yogurt Lands, and the Burger Bars of the world are becoming so popular? It's the freedom of choice and limitless possibilities all stemming from the belly busting buffet. finally I digress.... Burger Bar is an A-OK place that provides almost limitless possibilities to feed your meat addiction. You pick the type of patty, Black Angus Beef, Kobe Beef, Colorado Lamb, turkey, and veggie. Then comes the different buns/breads. Then comes the toppings which each have their own subcategory like the Garden, Grill, Ocean, Dairy, Farm, Pantry, and Earth. Lastly you choose the fried goodies. I can only speak based on my concoction. I got a lamb burger with spinach, cucumber, feta cheese, pesto sauce, and side of fried pickles. The burger was okay, outside the steep price tag, nothing was different than any of the other "made to order" burger joints. The fried pickles however were the best item. In honer of full disclosure however, if I didn't drop a couple of Benjamen's at the craps table while waiting to be seated the burger might have tasted a bit better. Just a smidgen though. I was lucky enough to get a taste of my friends [the famous michelle t.] angus beef, foie gras, truffle burger and it was as heavy as a thanksgiving dinner at the klump's house. For $30+ it tasted amazing but probably would have put me to sleep and then a stomach ache had I eaten any more. All in all, fun place, nice staff, good service, okay food, but a bit overpriced.
