I brought in my 2 year old cat who had diarrhea, but was doing good otherwise.
The doctor wanted to do $400 worth of diagnostic tests/prescription foods. She wanted to do everything that day, rather than starting off with one thing at a time. She definitely did not take a conservative approach.
A day after the visit, I called about doing the blood test she recommended. They said that if I brought in the cat for the test only five days after his exam, I would have to pay an exam fee again. None of the other vets I have been to do this. Also, Sugarloaf charges $35 just to draw the blood sample. Most vets do not charge to prepare the blood sample.
I regularly, thoroughly comb my cat, so I was shocked when the doctor said that a large portion of his body was covered in matts. I could not find even one matt on his fur. Also, the doctor referred to my 2 year old cat as being "middle aged!"
