Low expectations. That's how I walk into every situation that life puts in front of me and Skimos was no exception.
When you walk in, it' feels almost amateur. Cafeteria style tables and chairs. There is a back area, which I discovered at the end of your visit. that is open to customers and has couches. I wish I had know that earlier because I'm all about posting up to work or study. The decor is clean and there are funny coffee paintings posted on the wall. The menu is handwritten. The staff is young. Wifi is free.
Jazz music was playing which created a cool, laid back vibe where all walks of life filled the place. Two girls drinking water and snap chatting away, two love birds drinking their iced mochas, co-workers talking about their latest big project.
I was greeted by their staff who seemed indifferent to my existence but took my order with ease. I went with my staple, almond milk latte. I enjoyed it hot because I wanted to see their latte art skills and was disappointed when it was brought to me in a to-go cup, especially when I planned to post up. Not sure if they offer mugs for those sipping and staying though since they didn't ask me if I was enjoying it there. I did get a small glimpse of the illustrious latte art leaf after I removed the lid.
I would have loved to dine in, but the menu was limited and almost non-existent from what I could see and everything in the pastry case was saran-wrapped and didn't appear super fresh.
I have hopes for this little cafe and will have to check back to see how things have progressed.
