| - This was my second time dining at Del Frisco's in Charlotte, NC. Both times I have left pleased with the experience. This night was a dinner for my wife for Mother's Day and a birthday dinner for my brother. We arrived a little early and decided to have a drink at the bar, a nice old fashioned started off the meal right. after only 10 minutes or so we were shown to our table on the upper level of the restaurant. The restaurant sits in a lovely area known as South Park and it really is a nice building. "Old" dark wood, brass, huge windows, etc. give an impression of elegance and adds to the ambience.
The meal started with 3 appetizers of Sesame Tuna cooked perfectly with two sauces of soy/ginger, 1/2 dozen of raw oysters (they were ok), and the beef Carpaccio topped with micro greens and a creamy sauce. Tuna by far was the best app. The entrees arrived and the steaks were again cooked perfectly (12oz ribeye, dry aged Strip). I ordered the veal porterhouse, but they were out of that as well as the Wagyu beef, so there was a bit of a disappointment in that I had to go to choice number 3, the double cut lamb chops. They were good mind you, cooked great, but I really wanted that wagyu beef! We ordered the family style asparagus and the other worldly lobster mac and cheese as sides. Guys, that lobster mac-n-cheese is something pretty awesome and deserves a shout out all on it's own.
We washed the meal down with a bottle of Cade Cabernet Sauvignon.
Dessert? Yes sure of course!
She ordered the Strawberry Roman (basically some vanilla ice cream with Gran Marnier and fresh strawberries), He ordered the chocolate cake, as my brother is a world renowned certified chocoholic! I opted for a glass of the 1908 D'Oliverias Boal madeira. That's right a glass of 107yr old dessert wine! Super good stuff and certainly topped off a memorable evening.
Now it definitely wasn't cheap, as the bill approached $600 with the tip, but in life you have to live every now and then.
You need to go there and live a little bit too, I know I'll do it again.
