| - I worked for Petsmart for five years, so I'm aware of what is acceptable by company policy and what is not. When it came to the Nellis PetSmart, I was underwhelmed by the store itself (in my review I do not consider products or prices because these reflect PetSmart company policies and do not reflect individual stores). The store itself was adequately clean, but if it were any messier they would've gotten dinged by company standards. The shelves were not fully stocked but when I was finally able to track down an employee, he was helpful.
If that were my only experience I'd probably give this store a 3/5. However, I made the mistake of getting my dog cut at the grooming salon here. When I got him back, he had not been cut the way I had told the groomers I would like, and his ear was sore and he was bending his head down. As we were leaving, I noticed that his ear was dripping blood, and when I inspected closer I saw that they had sliced open his ear in three different spots. It was very, very obvious and, as a former PetSmart employee, I'm perfectly aware that the policy with anything more than a bleeding nail requires taking the injured animal to the Banfield vet AND informing the pet owner.
I will say flat out that PetSmart as a company has some very good policies, and, accordingly, some fantastic groomers; the problem, however, is when some stores can't be bothered to follow the appropriate protocols set in place for them until Corporate gets involved.
