| - First off, read your contract. If you're getting pressure to join, or especially buy personal training, take to time to get and read the contract. The offer that's good right then and there will still be good after you read the contract at home. Same with buying a car...
I've been burned twice, the first time just trying to cancel a recurring program. The manager, who's gone now, told me I couldn't cancel... just like that; no cancellations. The useless, at the time, training- with sandbags and step-ups- could not be cancelled. Went home, read the contract, came back with the paper in my hand and gave 30 days notice to cancel training. Done deal.
This most recent time, I bought 52 sessions for $780, plus an initiation fee that I learned about later, and two additional payments of $390. These additional payments were supposed to be ninety days apart. Guess what happened; I got billed $840, then $390 every month for five months. I'm not going to train 13 times a month ($30 each), especially when they have events where they sell training for $25 a pop.
The trainers, his colleagues, and the counter workers couldn't turn it off. Finally, the billing stopped. I've had to file a dispute with my card company and I'm sure I'll lose. I got a call from the gym after the chargeback and the location manager told me that it was "not his deal" when I asked about their call that evening. If he doesn't care, should I?
I've been a member for two years and have been mostly satisfied. Compared to the way things were running 12-18 months ago, it's so much better. In the past, I'd had issues with them opening on time and the gym going over a weekend without any kind of cleaning or re-stocking. That "?" cleaned into the grime on the wall by the trash can in 2015; yeah, me.
YouFit is a great value for the regular memberships. It's nice and clean and the kids at the counter are friendly. The trainers have a better developed program than in the past.
Oh, it's too damn hot in there. There's one "big ass" fan in the middle, over the weight machines. I'd much prefer more fans, distributed around. Especially by the cardio gear, where there's no airflow.
